Find your why!

Do you ever work so hard that you lose sight of why you do it? If you’re self-employed or own a business, the pressure is on you to keep working and make sure that everything is working as it should. It can be a hard slog sometimes. Long days, long nights – sometimes sleepless ones!

When you’re engulfed in the paperwork and, in our case, the on-site work it’s hard to take a step back and remember your why! Why do I do this? Why did I become self-employed? Why do I work so hard?

It’s sometimes tempting to say you’d rather work for someone else again or change what you do because you think the ‘grass may be greener’ but we’ve figured out that remembering our ‘why’ leads us back to the same thing each time and renews our enthusiasm.

Firstly, our family! We have young children and watching us build something for their futures which, we think, is setting them a pretty good example. Perhaps not when we are working so much but – we’re working on that too!

Secondly, our passion for what we do! We love it! We take pride in it and we are growing, developing and always thinking of our clients.

Lastly, but these aren’t really in order, those amazing clients that appreciate our hard work, dedication and are just simply a pleasure to work with. We couldn't do what we do without them!

Over the last few days, we received an email from a client. It was a brilliant and timely reminder of one of our ‘whys’. It makes all the difference to hear that we are doing a good job – even though we know how hard we work – it’s always nice to get recognition.

Our client wrote: Thank you so much for everything you have done, you have made our year! We are over the moon with what you guys have done so thank you again and we wish you continued success with your business’

If you’ve lost sight of your ‘why’ over the trying time we’ve all had recently – take five minutes – look back over the kind comments, the thank you messages, the emails and the positive reviews and give yourself a massive well done! You deserve it!
